Travel with your pet to Tignes, Belle Plagne, and La Rosière

Finding pet-friendly accommodation can sometimes be time-consuming… You think you’ve found the perfect place for your mountain getaway, only to read the dreaded words: “No pets allowed.”

With Altitude Résidences, you can compare accommodations without disappointment: cats and dogs of all kinds are welcome in all our properties residences, apartments, and chalets in Tignes, Belle Plagne, and La Rosière!

Just remember to mention that you’ll be traveling with your pet when booking your stay. Your pet will automatically be added to your reservation (and a small welcome basket will be waiting for them in your arrival kit).

Winter or Summer: when to travel with your pet to the mountains?

Taking a cat on vacation is easy. They’ll be perfectly happy lounging in the sun on the sofa all day, no matter the season (while you tire yourself out with all the exciting activities).

A dog, however, will need to stretch its legs (and take care of business) several times a day. So it’s best to choose a destination — snowy or not — that matches their energy level and need for exercise.

If your pet is older and prefers calm, short walks to long, adventurous hikes, they’ll be happy in any of our residences, apartments, or chalets, whether in winter or summer.

If you’re traveling with a young, energetic pet, opt for a dog-friendly destination, a place where they can safely run through the snow in winter or explore trails in summer without risk (or disturbing hikers and herds in the alpine pastures).

Before setting off on your hike, take a moment to check local rules and recommendations. Sometimes leashes are required, sometimes not. Certain protected areas — such as Vanoise National Park — do not allow dogs, even on a leash. Don’t hesitate to ask our reception team when you arrive: they’ll be happy to recommend the best trails for your four-legged companion.

Packing for your pet: what to bring

For your pet to enjoy their holiday as much as you do, it’s important that they feel safe and comfortable. How? By bringing a few familiar items from home.
Does your dog (or cat) only sleep in their own bed? Refuse to eat from any bowl but theirs? Spend hours chewing their favorite toy? Make room in your luggage for their comfort items!

Other must-haves when traveling with your pet:
- Collar with ID tag (including your contact details)
- Leash
- Any medications they may need
- Up-to-date vaccination record and a small first-aid kit
- Their usual food (as it may not be available locally)

If you’re traveling in summer and plan to hike, bring a foldable travel bowl, it fits easily in a backpack and can be filled with your own water bottle (or a second one dedicated to your pet).

If you’re traveling in winter and your pet feels the cold or has sensitive paws, pack a coat and small booties (or a paw balm) to protect them from snow and ice.

Convenient Services for traveling with your pet

If your cat or dog doesn’t mind using different bowls or sleeping on a new mat, you can leave those bulky items at home. Altitude Résidences provides clean, comfortable bowls and mats so you can travel light while keeping your pet happy.
