Couples, small families, large extended families: choose accommodations that suit you... and bring you all together!
Booking accommodations for two in the mountains is relatively easy: as a general rule, an apartment (or a hotel room) with a large double bed will perfectly meet the needs of a couple or a couple with a baby. It’s undoubtedly a better fit than a chalet for large families.
For small families (such as parents traveling with two or three young children), when choosing a vacation rental in the mountains, an apartment with a large double bed and several single bunk beds is the best option (it’s sure to feel like summer camp!). An apartment does, in fact, offer more space for play than a hotel room once the day of skiing is over.
For groups (friends, extended family), the choice of accommodations will depend on the level of privacy and independence each person desires.
Want to get together with a group of 12, 16, or 18 people? Consider renting out a large chalet or an apartment with plenty of space spread over several levels (and furniture perfect for large dinner parties and late-night conversations about the state of the world, all while cozying up on a huge sofa).
Looking for a sense of community, but also some independence? Book several apartments for 4, 6, or 8 people in the same vacation complex. That way, you can spend your days together on the slopes. Then, when it’s time to sleep, everyone can head “home” (after sharing an aperitif in the largest of the apartments you’ve booked… without even taking off your fur-lined slippers!).
Feel free to ask for advice when booking multiple apartments for your mountain vacation: we know our resorts like the back of our hands and can recommend apartments that are close to one another. And don’t forget: the earlier you book, the more choices you’ll have ;)
