Want to rent a private chalet your winter vacation? A childhood dream within your reach!

Want to rent a private chalet your winter vacation? A childhood dream within your reach!

Dec. 7, 2023
As a child, you would delight in diving into an imaginary world every night, populated by mischievous animals living perfect lives—between sled races and Grandma’s apple pie, cooling on the chalet window sill chalet you waited for snack time.
As an adult, that idyllic image has turned into a fantasy reserved for an elite few… or a childish whim that we look back on with a touch of embarrassment.
Yet life in chalet life in a castle: it’s accessible, both authentic and modern, peaceful and joyful, cozy and open to the mountains. See for yourself!
Chalet Ancolie

There are chalet then there are chalet

It's interesting to see how much our image chalet a chalet changes depending on what we read and the TV shows and movies we watch.
Did you read *Martine* and watch *Belle and Sébastien* as a child? You probably had a rather romanticized image of mountain chalets.

As an adult, you know the lines from *Les Bronzés font du ski* by heart. And you might imagine mountain chalets as old, dusty, poorly insulated cabins, inhabited by “old-timers” who are a bit… rustic ;) and who lovingly craft their shallot-flavored toad liqueur.

Unless, of course, you have a soft spot for somewhat sensationalist magazines, like *Enquêtes Exclusive* or *Capital* (no judgment intended), or those gorgeous home decor magazines. In that case, you probably view mountain chalets solely through the lens of luxury. In that case, renting a chalet for a week’s vacation will seem completely out of reach. A dream reserved for the elite.

However, there is a whole range of chalets between these two extremes: from a shabby shack to a luxury resort that only Beyoncé and Jay-Z can book for their family vacations.

Our luxury family cottages in Tignes, Chalet Ancolie and Chalet Charline, can be booked starting at €600 and €630 per day, respectively… and can accommodate up to 16 people! Doesn’t that suddenly make the dream seem more within reach?

Wood and stone (like before), but double-pane windows (like now)

The chalet for a ski vacation with family or friends? It beautifully combines old-world charm with the comforts you’d expect in the 21st century.

Here is (in our opinion) the perfect recipe, blending tradition and modernity:
  • Local wood and stone
  • A beautiful gabled roof made of slate
  • A fireplace—a must-have
  • Huge floor-to-ceiling windows with a view of the mountains (goodbye, traditional small windows—long live double-paned windows!)
  • A fully equipped kitchen
  • Comfortable rooms for everyone
  • Plenty of space and natural light!

We've applied this recipe to our two family cottages: Chalet Ancolie and Chalet Charline.

Chalet Ancolie can accommodate up to 16 people in a 350 m² space. Its 6 bedrooms, all of which have balconies, open onto a living room with a fireplace.
Chalet Charline, meanwhile, can accommodate up to 19 people in its 300 m² of space. It features 7 bedrooms with balconies and a large living room with a fireplace.

Our two chalets (which are next to each other, just to be clear, in case you’re looking for accommodations for 35 people…) offer a fabulous 180° view of Lake Tignes , and the surrounding mountains.

Independent: Yes. Isolated... No!

The books and cartoons of our childhood often depict cabins as small, isolated huts, tucked away in the middle of a pine forest teeming with (strangely sociable) wild animals.

While the idea of spending a week’s vacation away from the crowds and among the chamois may be tempting for city dwellers weary of the noise and fast pace (not to say hellish) of city life, it requires meticulous planning, which negates any relaxing effect of this vacation that’s a bit too quiet.

Renting a private chalet heart of a ski resort allows you to spend your winter vacation in a true cocoon, surrounded only by your immediate family or those closest to you. At the same time, you’ll have easy access to all the recreational facilities (ski area, toboggan run, swimming pool, movie theater, etc.) and services (pharmacy, convenience store, etc.).

The two family-friendly chalets atAltitude Résidences — Ancolie and Charline —are ideally located just a few meters from the ski slopes, in a charming residential neighborhood in the hills above Tignes -le-Lac. Within a few minutes’ walk, you can buy croissants for breakfast, treat yourself to a pair of skis (or mittens) at a sports store, indulge your taste buds at a restaurant in Le Lac, Le Lavachet, or Val Claret (the Crouze shuttle stop is a 1-minute walk away), or dash to the pharmacy to find THE one tube of soothing cream that your baby’s delicate bottom will tolerate.
Budget? Check! Comfort? Check! Close to the ski area? Check! We told you that renting a private chalet your winter vacation was a dream within your reach ;)

So, are you going to make a reservation?
