You’ve probably noticed: ski vacations are generally cheaper outside of school breaks, especially during the week leading up to the Christmas break. Accommodations, ski passes, train tickets… There are plenty of promotional offers available in the off-season—it would be a real shame to miss out!

Another great perk—one that should tip the scales when it comes to convincing that friend who’s new to the sport to join your merry band of experienced riders—is that you’ll get discounts on snow sports lessons and equipment rentals from our resort partners throughout the season. A week of skiing at a bargain price… does that seem too good to be true? Here’s something to put your mind at ease: 70% of La Plagne’s ski area is located at an altitude of over 2,000 m (highest point: 3,080 m). Snow coverage on the vast majority of the slopes is therefore guaranteed starting in mid-December (and through April, should you feel like coming back in the spring).

 

Are you worried that the ski area might not be big enough to satisfy your insatiable appetite for skiing? Rest assured: once you’ve “finished” the slopes at La Plagne, you’ll still have the slopes at Les Arcs and Peisey-Vallandry to sink your teeth into—both resorts are connected to La Plagne by the famous La Vanoise Cable Car (Paradiski ski area / 425 km of slopes at the height of the season).

The week before the Christmas break, the La Plagne ski area is still very quiet. On the slopes: nothing but ski and snowboard enthusiasts! The kids are in school, casual skiers haven’t waxed their skis yet, and beginners haven’t (yet) experienced that growing sense of anticipation that sets in as soon as the first snowflakes fall…

 

And since, among winter sports enthusiasts, bonds form quickly on the chairlift (or at the bar in the evening), we can say this with absolute certainty: you and your friends—both new and old—will truly be all alone on the slopes of La Plagne in mid-December!

That’s great news for your parents, but also for your uncles, aunts, nephews, and nieces (whom you can impress with a few videos of your carving turns between slices of Yule log cake).

 

In fact, why not take advantage of your stay to pick up a few last-minute gifts?
