1. Prioritize what will bring you the most satisfaction during your week-long vacation
The price (of an apartment, an activity, a dinner at a restaurant, etc.) is one thing; perceived value is another. For a given budget (for example, €2,000 per person, including lodging, activities, meals, and transportation), the breakdown of expenses will vary greatly depending on your vacation preferences.
Are you a ski addict? Opt for a massive ski area with a great selection of technical runs or renowned off-piste terrain: you’ll easily get your money’s worth out of your large-area ski pass. Are you a beginner? Your budget for “ski lessons” will be higher than that of an expert skier… but your ski pass will cost you less (free lifts for beginners, day passes, etc.).
Is skiing just one of many activities for you?
Rebalance your “activities and recreation” budget with a full-day or half-day ski pass and complementary activities, such as a snowshoeing trip or a paragliding flight, for example.
Need some rest and relaxation? Don't skimp on the comfort of your vacation rental (ample space, tasteful decor, a wellness area, etc.)—and treat yourself to a massage!
Do you see vacations as an opportunity to spend time together with your children, grandchildren, friends, and so on? Be sure to prioritize group activities (such as a night at a trapper camp, for example, or even just a raclette night in the large apartment you’ve rented for the week).
