Vacation Idea: An Active Summer Vacation in La Plagne

Vacation Idea: An Active Summer Vacation in La Plagne

April 14, 2025
Do you love biking? Do you love running? Plan your summer vacation in La Plagne around the schedule of major sporting events taking place in July and August! The SUPER8 cycling rally, the finish of the 19th stage of the 2025 Tour de France, and the 6000D trail race: three major events, three opportunities to dive headfirst into the joyful excitement of the crowd—whether as a spectator or a competitor! So, when are you going to check into the Chalet Hôtel Turquoise this summer?

Bring out your mountain bikes, e-mountain bikes, road bikes (and even balance bikes!) for the SUPER8 event (July 1–13, 2025)

Are you a fan of mountain biking, e-mountain biking, balance bikes, or family rides? SUPER8 is the must-attend cycling event for all riders, from the youngest to the most experienced.
On the agenda:
  • Mountain Bike and E-Mountain Bike Races
  • An 18-km bike ride (1,300 m elevation gain) between Aime-la-Plagne and Plagne Centre
  • Enduro Race for Kids & Teens
  • Themed Hikes and Activities

Special mention for the balance bike race (ages 2–4): fun, smiles, and memories guaranteed!

Extend the experience throughout the week:

  • Family Downhill Ski Lessons
  • Electric Mountain Bike Rentals for Effortless Exploration
  • Pump Track in Plagne Bellecôte (mountain biking, skateboarding, scooters, etc.)

Cheer on the pro cyclists during the 19th stage of the Tour de France (July 25, 2025)

As a longtime fan of the Tour de France, are you used to spending the month of July in front of your TV, lulled by the voices of the Tour de France commentators? This summer, come cheer on the riders “in person” (without having to camp out three days in advance for fear of losing your spot)! 130 km of asphalt, 4,500 m of elevation gain : that’s what the 22 teams selected for the 2025 edition will have tackled by the time they cross the finish line... Who do you think will emerge victorious from this 19th stage? Pogacar? Vingegaard? Another rider? Make your predictions!

Our favorite for the kids: it’s obviously the Tour Caravan! For about thirty minutes, the Tour’s partner brands will put on a show on floats that outdo each other in creativity and hand out promotional gifts (useful and made from recycled and/or recyclable materials) to spectators as they wait for the riders to pass by. The Caravan? It’s loud, it’s joyful, it’s legendary!

To stay on theme all week: test your limits on cycling routes ranging from the Haute Tarentaise to the major Alpine passes (Col de l’Iseran, Col du Petit Saint-Bernard, Cormet de Roselend) or on more accessible loop routes (such as the Balcons de Tarentaise route: “only” 140 meters of elevation gain over a 29-kilometer ride).

The other cycling event you won't want to miss during your Tour de France stay in La Plagne is the Étape du Tour! On Sunday, July 20, just a few days before the big race among the pros, no fewer than 16,000 amateur cyclists will tackle the route of the 19th stage between Albertville and La Plagne... Come cheer them on!

Run with your family on the trails of La Plagne during the legendary 6000D trail race (July 31–August 2, 2025)

Does your family prefer trail running shoes to cycling shoes? Forget about the two cycling events described above, and hurry up and grab your race bib for the 6000D! Like a fine wine (from Savoie), this legendary trail race, first held in 1990, has grown in character year after year. In 2025, no fewer than 10 races await runners of all ages (ages 6 and up) and all skill levels (adult races ranging from 5 km to 69 km)
Our favorite for the kids: the 6D Kids, a fun race for children and teens ages 6 to 15! So your little ones can also strap on a race bib and tackle courses tailored to their little legs (and their growing bodies).

To stay on theme all week long: continue exploring the landscapes of La Plagne at a more leisurely pace on the hiking trails starting from the Chalet Hôtel Turquoise ( the Balcon Route / easy; the Carroley Loop / intermediate; the Roche de Mio Loop / difficult).
