Challenge Ideas to Earn Your Next Virtual Badge on Strava This Winter

Challenge Ideas to Earn Your Next Virtual Badge on Strava This Winter

Oct. 4, 2025
Ever since you received a smartwatch for Christmas, you can’t help but take part in the new challenges Strava offers every month. You got a little too enthusiastic during your last login: you accepted the special Strava winter sports challenge! Now you have no choice—you have to earn your virtual badge no matter what. Altitude Résidence is here to help you rise to the challenge!
@LaRosiereTourisme

Family-Friendly Fun: Let's all head to the ice rink this winter!

Exercising requires a certain amount of organization for parents of young children. It’s complicated—if not impossible—to go for a run or a bike ride as a couple without hiring a babysitter. Fortunately, Strava’s winter challenges let you squeeze in a few minutes of activity without taking your eyes off your little ones!

For example, you can share a wonderful (albeit somewhat awkward) moment with your 2-year-old daughter at the ice rink in La Plagne or La Rosière.

Or challenge the older kids to a skiing challenge: their first snowplow turns on a fun run, a mini-jump on the XS features in the snowpark, or even a four-person race over the woops (= bumps) and banked turns of the boardercross course!

Take advantage of this: before long, they’ll be the ones challenging you to ski down—without stopping—the longest run in the Paradiski ski area (La Plagne– Les Arcs–Peisey Villandry), the Espace San Bernardo (La Rosière –La Thuile), or the Tignes –Val d’Isère ski area… Start planning a few leg workouts at the gym now—it’ll be here before you know it!

The Most Fun: Strava Challenges to Share with Your Group This Winter

The great thing about Strava challenges in the winter is that they’re a lot of fun. So you can get your friends involved in the quest for your precious virtual badge… without them even realizing it! It’s much easier to suggest going skiing with them than to convince them to come run for an hour and a half with you on Sunday, especially in January…

Spice up your classic ski outings a bit during your mountain vacation: suggest a group ski-touring adventure (followed by a fondue to enjoy at a mountain hut), or a thrilling run down the boardercross courses at the ski resorts of La Plagne, La Rosière, or Tignes.

The Most Versatile: Try 5 different winter sports to take on your Strava challenge

There are many different activities eligible for Strava challenges in the winter. Take this opportunity to try a different activity every day during your mountain vacation!

Downhill skiing, ski touring, snowshoeing, snowboarding, or even cross-country skiing: you’re in luck—our lodgings are equipped with spacious ski lockers where you can store all the gear you need to tackle your sporting challenge in a warm, dry place.

Hurry and reserve your equipment, snow sports lessons, or a mid-mountain guide through our partners in La Plagne, La Rosière or Tignes : they’ll give you some nice discounts if you tell them you’re coming from us ;)

The most effective option: a single long ski-touring trip

Don't want to be weighed down by a smartwatch during your ski trip to La Plagne, La Rosière or Tignes ? We get it! After all, the mountains can’t be summed up by statistics, no matter how impressive they may be ;)

To earn your Strava “300 Minutes of Winter Sports” badge, go for a single long, beautiful ski touring trip! Book it right away with our resort partners to take advantage of their expertise in snow conditions and safety—and best of all, at a special rate.

The Most Creative: Draw a Unique Path with Your GPS

This is definitely the toughest challenge on this list, but that's what makes it so exciting! Choose your ski route and try to trace a shape (your initials, a heart, etc.), which will appear on your GPS track once you import it into Strava.

A creative way to rack up minutes (or hours...) of winter activities—it will probably take you a few tries before you manage to complete your creation.

What strategy will you use: studying the Paradiski trail map? An aerial photo from La Rosière ? Your highly honed sense of direction? Or simply your instinct for a somewhat… abstract result? No matter which method you choose—whether conventional or not—we can’t wait to see the result!

The "personal" touch: Choose a goal that's just for you (OK… and your followers!)

You know how to ski (or snowshoe) for 300 minutes during a week-long vacation! What matters to you is tracking your own metrics. This winter, have fun setting goals that match your ambitions:

  • Beat your PR (Personal Record) on a particularly challenging ski-touring section several times during the week;
  • To complete 15, 20, or 30 runs in a single day;
  • Ski a total of 250 km during your stay;
  • Reach 500 m of elevation gain while snowshoeing, etc.

We already have an idea for a reward to thank you for your efforts: a delicious fondue or raclette to share with your fans... uh, your family— we lend raclette and fondue sets free of charge to all our guests, whether or not they hold the coveted title of “local legend” ;)
And don't forget: if it's not on Strava, it never happened ;) Whether you're on vacation in Chalet Hôtel TurquoiseBelle Plagne, at Lodge des GlaciersLa Rosière, or even in our cabins at Tignes (Ancolie and Charline), be sure to share your stats in an Instagram Story and tag Altitude Résidences so we can congratulate you!
